Overview

Our preschool program has a strong focus on English language learning in order to prepare our students with the English language skills necessary to continue into the next level. The instructional program is highly structured and includes specific learning and developmental objectives at each level. Students are evaluated in areas of social-emotional development, language development, literacy skills, math and logic concepts, developmental skills and behavioral progress. In addition to their core classes (which are all taught in English), preschool students have daily Spanish class, bi-weekly physical education, and weekly classes in art, music, computers and library.

Schedule and Details

We have three levels of preschool: Pre-K 1 (for students who turn 3 by September 30), Pre-K 2 (for students who turn 4 by September 30), and Kindergarten (for students who turn 5 by September 30). Each level is taught by a certified teacher, and there are several assistants to provide additional learning support for individuals or groups of students in each level. Classes are limited to 15-20 students. The school day is from 7:15 to 12:15 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Spanish Language Learning

For expatriate students who are still learning the Spanish language, our preschool program also provides an excellent opportunity for learning Spanish. Part of the instructional time is used for English-speaking students to leave the regular classroom and have focused instruction on learning Spanish in small groups with Nicaraguan teachers. Our desire is that all of our students will be fluent in both English and Spanish. Additional Spanish instruction is available for Kindergarten students after school (12:30 to 2:15 p.m.) three days per week.
