Summer Camp

Summer Camp

"Our daughter had a wonderful time at camp. It was a great combination of fun and learning. She especially enjoyed the crafts and swimming lessons. It was such a great experience that we are sending our younger daughter this summer."

-- Elementary parent

Nicaragua Christian Academy offers a five-week summer camp which is open to the general public. Campers from ages 3-12 enjoy field trips, games, music, art, sports, and Bible activities—all while improving their English or Spanish language skills and making new friends.

Instructional Levels and Areas

Our staff is dedicated to providing an educational and fun summer camp experience for your child.  The camp includes daily chapel and Bible teaching, focused language learning time in either English or Spanish language (depending on your child's needs), swimming, cooking, arts and crafts classes, as well as the opportunity for students to participate in a variety of games, activities and Friday field trips to several destinations in Nicaragua!

The average summer camp class size is between 6 to 12 students.  The number of counselors assigned to each class will depend on the enrollment and needs for each class.  There are three different levels of English or Spanish instruction: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. Students are placed in the program according to their age and English or Spanish level needs.

Staff instructors are a mix of summer missionaries who have a teaching background or are expatriate university students pursuing their teaching degrees.  Spanish instruction is delivered by our school's Nicaraguan teachers and classroom assistants.  In addition to the teachers, we involve secondary NCA students as assistants at all levels of the summer camp program.

All instructors and assistants receive training and information about their responsibilities and expectations; school policies, procedures, and enforcement; appropriate crisis and emergency responses and reporting procedures; safety and security procedures; and confidentiality issues involving minors.
